An exciting musical experience for everyone over six years of age

Together with rbbKultur, Radio Berlin-Brandenburg’s cultural radio station, the DSO invites children of primary school age to experience orchestral music in an entertaining way geared to their age group – on Sundays at noon in the Haus des Rundfunks.

rbbKultur radio host Christian Schruff and the musicians of the DSO put together six programmes where works with exciting stories, sound samples and often with the involvement of school classes are presented on the stage of the Großer Sendesaal, the large broadcasting hall. Concertgoers aged six to twelve can discover things for themselves. They are allowed to join in, have a say and experiment – all before the concert.

Open House – getting to know the instruments

At the Open House from 10.30 a.m., various string, woodwind and brass ensembles of the DSO will play and introduce their instruments to the children. Kids can also have their faces painted, do handicrafts, sing and much more. The highlights from the concerts will later be broadcast by rbbKultur in the programme 'Klassik für Kinder' (Classical Music for Children).

School projects on the children’s concerts

The DSO offers school classes the possibility to take part in selected children’s concerts, for instance with a choreography, their own compositions or handmade instruments. Primary school teachers who would like to collaborate on stage with their class, please contact the music education team at the DSO by email.
