DSO’s chamber concerts are broadening the scope of the of the orchestra's symphony concerts. Lineups vary from duets to string octets, playing music from four centuries, from chamber music classic to contemporary discoveries.
News Spaces for Chamber Music
The concerts of the traditional Chamber Music Series will be held at three new venues in the 2026/2027 season:
Three evenings at the Museum Fotografiska on Oranienburger Straße invite you to engage with contemporary photography.
Three discussion concerts in the series ›Heroines‹ at the Villa Elisabeth present the lives and stores of extraordinary women: Ethel Smyth, Rosa Parks and Margot Friedlän-der; another evening there is organised by the DSO’s orchestra academy.
Four further concerts will occupy the Hall of Mirrors in Clärchen’s Ballroom.
Museums, Art and Crime
The DSO’s tradition-steeped ›Notturno‹ series has been organized jointly with the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation since 2010. Its 17th season will explore the Bode Museum, the Photography Museum and the Geheimes Staatsarchiv Preußischer Kulturbesitz in musical presentations preceded by museum tours.
The concert format ›Music and Crime‹ was introduced in 2023 and has quickly become an audience favourite. In collaboration with the popular podcast ›ZEIT Verbrechen‹ and its hosts, it brings turbulent new crime stories to evenings at the Haus des Rundfunks and features Sabine Rückert, publisher of the magazine ZEIT VERBRECHEN and editor of special issues of DIE ZEIT, Andreas Sentker, managing editor of DIE ZEIT and publisher of the magazine ZEIT WISSEN, as well as a chamber music ensemble of the DSO.
As part of the 2026 Berlin Art Week and the ›Hallen 07‹ Festival, DSO chamber music ensembles will perform on the grounds of Wilhelm Studios on 13 September.
