In its 2025/2026 season, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin is putting the spotlight on the musical works of Black composers and traditions with its focus on ›Afrodiaspora – Composing While Black‹.

On 7 December, the DSO will explore the topic in greater depth at a symposium in cooperation with the State Institute for Music Research, featuring lectures, presentations and a panel discussion. Renowned voices from research and practice will open up new perspectives on Afro-diasporic music in the field of tension between composition, aesthetics and institution.
