Zum Konzert

Since 1959, the series ›Debüt im Deutschlandfunk Kultur‹ (formerly: ›RIAS Presents‹) has presented the stars of the future at the side of the DSO. This time, three young talents are introducing themselves with works that composers wrote in their twenties: Lili Boulanger’s ›D’un matin de printemps‹ was written shortly before her premature death but it exudes curiosity and joie de vivre. In ›Don Juan‹, Richard Strauss reflected on the life of an aging lecher, and Sergei Rachmaninoff worked his way out of a creative crisis with his hopeful Piano Concerto. Finally, Samuel Barber composed his Violin Concerto completely intuitively – it is one of the most popular ever.
