DSO x NDR Bigband 01.12.2024

The DSO and the NDR Big Band from Hamburg met for the first time in a rousing collaboration under the direction of Wayne Marshall. The centrepiece was the world premiere of Florian Weber's work ›Unravel‹, an adaptation of Ravel's ›Ma mère l'oye‹. The symphony concert on Saturday 30 November also featured pieces by jazz musician Nikki Iles and another world premiere, ›Aurora Borealis II‹ by Geir Lysne. Marshall also presented ›Unravel‹ at the Casual Concert on Friday 29 November. A guest performance in Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie on Sunday December 1st brought the exciting concert weekend to a crowning conclusion.
