Allan Clayton has unfortunately had to cancel his participation in the concert for scheduling reasons. We are delighted that David Butt Philip has agreed to take over his part in Mahler's 'Lied von der Erde' at short notice.

About the programme

Gustav Mahler’s ›Das Lied von der Erde‹ is one of the composer’s great and most often performed works. Completed shortly before his death, Mahler posed the great questions of life in this one composition: How does it feel when you see your own end getting closer and closer? How do you say goodbye, to your own daughter, your wife? Like no other, Mahler manages to combine these profoundly distressing themes in his music with hope.
