Zum Konzert

Already Händel and his colleagues knew about recycling: A few old arias, new lyrics, minor embellishments here, a different ending there, and the new piece was finished. The all-round talent Ferruccio Busoni, Italian by birth, Berlin citizen by choice, was also able to do what was common in the Baroque era. When nothing came of his planned ›Aladdin‹ opera, he simply used his ideas for a piano concerto in 1904. And what a concerto it was! Insanely difficult and huge – and at the end there is even a male choir singing backstage. Robin Ticciati, conductor and host, tells in the Casual Concert how this wonderfully crazy spectacle came to be. Afterwards there is the perfect contrast programme taking place in the lounge in the foyer – with multi-instrumentalist and electro musician Perera Elsewhere as radioeins live act and club sounds for the transition into the night.
