Zum Konzert

Max Bruch’s much-beloved Violin Concerto is full of world weariness and melancholy – and of beautiful melodies that linger in the ears. By contrast, Grażyna Bacewicz’s lively Polish Rhapsody has only rarely appeared on concert podiums since its world premiere in 1950, which is astonishing because it is truly an orchestral jewel. Roussel’s ballet music ›Bacchus et Ariane‹ is by comparison an ecstasy of sounds and plunges the listeners into acoustic vertigo. Maurice Ravel, too, wrote his ›Daphnis et Chloé‹ with the choreographies of Sergei Diaghilev’s legendary ›Ballets Russes‹ in mind – narrating a musical adventure of raw nature, pirates and nymphs.
