About the radio3 Children’s Concert
The 112th radio3 Children’s Concert takes us into the colourful world of acrobats and artists, clowns, comedians and tricks. On Sunday, 21 September, the five brass players from Berlin City Brass, an ensemble of the DSO, will be taking to the stage. The children from Circus Zack will also be there.
Music is, of course, an integral part of the circus, because the right rhythm gives movements real momentum, making everything bounce, dance and jump. That’s why there is so much great circus music by composers such as Julius Fučík, Dmitri Kabalevsky, Cole Porter and Bedřich Smetana. Some of it has been specially arranged by Berlin City Brass. The musicians sometimes even become artists themselves when they soar to the high notes, chase scales up and down, or perform great leaps.
The children from Circus Zack will be performing their aerial acrobatics, juggling and balancing acts on stage in the Great Broadcasting Hall at the Haus des Rundfunks. And perhaps they will inspire the children aged 6 and above in the audience to join in. Host Christian Schruff is very much looking forward to putting on his ringmaster’s hat and opening the 21st season of radio3 Children’s Concerts with the words: ›Manege frei‹ (Clear the ring!).
The concert begins at 12 noon. And the open house begins at 10:30 a.m. Here, young music fans can learn about a wide variety of instruments together with orchestra members, have their faces painted, do crafts, sing and much more.
