Semi staged version at the Berlin Philharmonie
Following Berlioz's 'L'enfance du Christ' last season, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (DSO ) and Robin Ticciati performed another oratorio in a semi staged version on 15 and 16 December 2018, transforming the Berlin Philharmonie into a music-theatrical venue. This time, the DSO's music director has chosen Handel's 'Messiah' in the English original version, whose intensity he sought to intensify together with director Frederic Wake-Walker, lighting designer Ben Zamora and dancer Ahmed Soura. The oratorio was sung by the RIAS Chamber Choir and a high-caliber soloist ensemble consisting of Louise Alder, Magdalena Kožená, Tim Mead, Allan Clayton and Florian Boesch.
