Kim Esther Roloff, born in 1986, comes from a family of musicians in Berlin and received her first violin lessons at the age of four.
She later switched to the viola and was accepted as a junior student at the Julius Stern Institute for the Promotion of Young Musicians at the Berlin University of the Arts.
She completed her major studies with Prof. Hans Joachim Greiner and Wilfried Strehle at the Berlin University of the Arts, and with Jean Sulem at the Conservatoire national supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris.
During her studies she received chamber music lessons with Friedemann Weigle (Artemis Quartet).
Kim Esther Roloff was an academist with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin in the 2011/12 season, where she subsequently received a temporary contract.
She has since been a regular substitute there, as well as with the Berlin Philharmonic and the NDR Radiophilharmonie, and since 2016 has also been principal violist in the Deutsches Kammerorchester Berlin.
As a sought-after chamber musician, Kim Esther Roloff is a guest at renowned festivals in Germany and abroad, such as the Rheingau Music Festival, the Goldberg Festival Gdansk, the Jewish Cultural Festival Krakow, the Hohenstaufen Chamber Music Festival and the Summerwinds Festival.
Kim Esther Roloff plays a viola by Ragnar Hayn from 2017.
