Festival ›Music and Healing‹ III

Psychotrip of light and sound

The third festival evening on March 25 touches on the boundary between life and the afterlife. Principal conductor Robin Ticciati explores the religious experience that becomes light and sound in Olivier Messiaens. Alban Berg's masterful Violin Concerto (with soloist Veronika Eberle) performs harrowing mourning. And with Alexander Scriabin the evening culminates in the orgiastic sound rush of the 'Poème de l'extase'.

Festival ›Music and Healing IV

Moving Closing Song

The fourth festival evening on March 26 seeks reconciliation and redemption: Jonathan Harvey's '... towards a Pure Land' explores the state that some call nirvana, others paradise or elysium. Richard Wagner's music in the Third Act of 'Tristan und Isolde' also tells of complete transcendence. Robin Ticciati brings it to the stage in concert with a phenomenally cast ensemble around Michael Weinius and Dorothea Röschmann.

Oksana Lyniv and Mao Fujita

Virtuoso and romantic

Rachmaninoff's Third Piano Concerto is an all-time audience favorite. The young pianist Mao Fujita introduces himself to the DSO crowd with this highly virtuosic and highly romantic bravura piece. Conductor Oksana Lyniv also has in her bag Dvořák's eighth symphony and a moving elegy by the Ukrainian contemporary Yevhen Stankovych.
