Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin

School projects relating to DSO concerts

School project ›Pictures of an exhibition"

This season, as in the last, the Deutsche Symphonie-Orchester Berlin will be offering a variety of projects on which we will work together with schools and music schools.

The projects are always linked to a piece which is performed in a concert by the DSO: in past seasons, we have worked with ›Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks‹ by Richard Strauss, Olivier Messiaen’s ›Oiseaux exotiques‹ and with pieces by then composer in residence, George Benjamin, among others. Members of the orchestra have visited schools together with soloists and composers, and have made music, composed and rehearsed with the children, and talked and written about music and musical instruments. A number of classes have also come to hear the DSO in rehearsal or to see us in concert.

It is our heartfelt wish to give opportunities to as many school pupils as possible from the various types of school, and from all age groups, to have direct experience of the rehearsal and concert situation, and to participate in the cultural life of the city. We are therefore very keen to expand our collaboration with schools in the 2011|2012 season, and to undertake new projects on various pieces.
